Simya VC is thrilled to announce its second investment in Werover, a company that produces solutions for the digitalization of renewable energy through artificial intelligence and Internet of Things (IoT) solutions.

What Are Wind Turbines and What Are They Good For?

Wind turbines, which have been around since the end of the 1900s, are a green energy source and considered environmentally friendly because they reduce carbon dioxide emissions. As a sustainable energy source, wind turbines benefit the environment and economy. They are of great importance as a renewable energy source as they convert wind energy into electrical energy. Wind turbines are a friendly energy source for our atmosphere in terms of reducing the use of fossil fuels. They are advantageous for the environment as they occupy less space than other energy sources. They also allow use in different areas such as rural and coastal areas.

How to Avoid the Global Climate Crisis with Sustainable Energy

Fossil fuels such as coal, oil, and gas are the primary contributors to greenhouse gas emissions and climate change. To address this global issue, we must reduce emissions by 50% by 2030 and achieve net zero by 2050. To do this requires investing in clean, affordable, and sustainable alternative energy sources and reducing our reliance on fossil fuels.* We must end our reliance on fossil fuels and invest in clean, accessible, affordable, sustainable, and reliable alternative energy sources.

Werover and its Contribution to Sustainability

I would like to introduce our new investment, Werover, which produced solutions for the sustainability of wind turbines. To install and operate a wind turbine, a significant investment, and a very long process is required. Regular maintenance is needed to extend the life of wind turbines. Current health monitoring of wind turbine blades and inspection methods include manual and drone inspections. In manual inspections, the wind turbine is shut down, and technicians climb the turbine to inspect the blades for any damage visually. Assessment of these gigantic structures poses a health and safety risk and includes the possibility of human error. There are also crewless aerial vehicle (drone) inspections. However, in these inspections, the system and the turbines must be stopped.

Now, onto Werover’s Windrover product. The Windrover provides an automatic and highly sensitive system that detects blade anomalies in wind turbines during operation using acoustic sensors. It collects data continuously in all weather conditions and provides accurate evaluation using artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms. The product helps create a predictive maintenance model for wind turbine blades, contributing to the sustainability of wind turbines.

Why Did We Invest in Werover?

From the moment we met Balca Yilmaz and Caglar Erat, the founders of Werover who brought this excellent business idea to life, we felt fortunate for their hard work, determination, and dedication to opening Werover abroad. Since 2018, Balca and Çağlar have carried out successful projects in many areas in the underwater sector, including developing crewless underwater vehicles (ROV). As Simya VC, we are investing in this successful startup that focuses on the field of wind turbines using the know-how they have acquired in the underwater area. The Werover team, accepted into our global partner Alchemist Acceleration Program, has already started its globalization steps in Germany and the UK and will reach customers in many countries step by step. We believe the founders and the whole team have all the qualifications to turn Werover into a world brand.

The Werover team has great potential to positively impact the industry, and we are proud to support their mission through our investment.

Welcome to Simya VC portfolio, Werover!
