Saliha Durmuş, Co-Founder and CEO
Saliha received her BSc, MSc, and PhD degrees in Chemical Engineering from Boğaziçi University. She specialized in Bioinformatics and Systems Biology. She won the Best Doctoral Thesis Award in 2013. She continued her academic career as a faculty member in Bioengineering at Gebze Technical University. She and her academic co-founders started PhiTech Bioinformatics with the initial idea of pathogen-host interaction (Phi) database coming from her PhD thesis, which then evolved into current multi-omics diagnostic solutions. Saliha left the university in 2020 to focus on her bioentrepreneurship career. She has an ambition to transfer scientific discoveries into technological clinical solutions.
She has unique expertise in bioentrepreneurship. Her previous experiences as a COO in an industrial biotechnology start-up company for two years (2018-2020) and as a Plant Manager in the same company for eight months during the construction of the production plant, contributed to her business development and executive skills. She is the recipient of the national TOYP (Ten Outstanding Young Persons) award by JCI (Junior Chamber International), in “Business, Economic and Entrepreneurial Accomplishment” category in 2021.
She has a 16-year-old daughter, Zuhal. Saliha is a bookworm, who loves to read about science and technology.
